Well, we all knew it was only a matter of time before Christian found himself under the roof of a hockey rink, and at just 10 days old, that’s where he was Tuesday night to cheer on his papa and uncle in a roller hockey match. Now, there’s obviously not much he’s ever going to remember about how his papa put home a blast from the point in the 3rd period to put the game out of reach of the opposing team, but that’s okay. He won’t remember the failed blocked shot attempt that screened his goalie and cost them a goal, either.
Seeing that newborns his age can only focus on objects about 15″ away from their face anyway, it’s more of the atmosphere and the sounds of the game that are possibly sinking into his memory bank for the near future. Taking into account how our own family grew up around hockey and how it surrounds our lives still to this day, it will certainly be nuture, if not nature, that will have a stick in his hands before he can ride a bike.
The post game interview didn’t go too well with Christian, but I know he would have been proud of how his papa played. :)
